On Saturday 20th June, leaflets produced by Worker-communism Unity Party (WUP) were distributed in several areas of Tehran. The areas covered were Janat Abad, Ayatollah kashani Boulevard, Ta’avon Boulevard, Shahr e Ziba and the side streets from the above locations.
The leaflets (namely Let us push back the Islamic regime’s brutal assault” and “Free all jailed workers”) were openly handed out to the people demonstrating. They were very warmly received.
Janat Abad has been scene to anti-government nightly demonstrations in the past days. In this area a security police vehicle was set ablaze by the demonstrators. On Friday night, the day Ayatollah Khamenei threatened the people in his sermon, people demonstrated in Janat Abad until past midnight.
Also in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan, a team of party activists distributed party’s message to the people in different areas, including Sirius St., Abbas Abad, Farje and Golshan.
These activities, even though impose a great risk on party activists, play an important role in breaking the tight censorship imposed not only by the government, but also by the western media on left and communist activities and view points.
